Mandatory Requirement



Under the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), all organisations (ACRA & ROS registered entities, regardless of size) are required to appoint a Data Protection Officer (DPO) and have a Data Protection policy in placed to oversee the management of personal data to ensure compliance with the PDPA.


Note: Appointing a DPO without appropriate policies in placed is considered insufficient and would be deemed as non-compliance with the PDPA.



Penalty for Personal Data Breaches



An organisation could be fined up to SGD 1 Million or 10% of that organisation's turnover (whichever is higher), if it is found to have intentionally or negilgently contravened its obligations under the PDPA.
